I'm 47. I just started a new company in a new market where I have 0 authority.
Everything in me is howling to turn and go back, except 1 truth.
I love what I'm doing.
As a business owner, you come to accept the endless war that rages between head and heart.
The push and the pull.
Your head pushes you toward safety and comfort.
Your head pushes you to prioritize money and notoriety.
Your head reminds you that new is filled with loss and terror.
But your heart...
Your heart pulls you to the edge of the forest you already own.
The same forest that you know by the back of your hand.
The forest whose seasons you've weathered.
The forest that bends around you.
And yet, at the edge of the forest is where the light shines brightest.
Only when you stand at the edge, can you see the next forest.
The head pushes you backward, into familiar darkness.
The heart pulls you ahead, into a glaring new future.
This was a hard week for me. My head won the battle.
But my heart is committed. My heart is winning the war.
I hope this message finds others...
Standing at the edge of one forest, looking out at the next.
I'll be waiting for you.
We can get lost together. 🌲
In case you missed it…
In my last post, I announced the new business I’m building.
It’s where the majority of my writing happens, which is why it’s quieter here.
If you’d like to join me and learn more about building growth flywheels that generate new income streams…
Bravo Jay! I'm in!
